Job summary

Abilene Sports Medicine & Orthopedics is seeking a part-time Medical Receptionist to greet patients, verify information, and handle insurance documentation in a fast-paced clinical setting. Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of Medical Receptionist experience and familiarity with insurance verification, demonstrating excellent communication and organizational skills to support smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of Medical Receptionist experience.
• 1-2 years of experience with insurance verification.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
• Checks patients in and out, verifies current information and updates paperwork as necessary.
• Scans patient insurance cards and documents into the EMR system.
• Collects payments, issues receipts, and applies copays/co-insurance to the patient account.
• Balances charges and prepares daily deposits.
• Schedules follow-up appointments.
• Answers the back line, screens calls, and shares information with patients and referring offices.
• Coordinates with clinical staff to support patient care and clinic workflow.
• Maintains a neat and orderly work and reception area.
• Prints and distributes faxes and mail.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following

• Scans patient insurance cards and documentation into the EMR system.
• Collects the required payment, issues an appropriate receipt, and applies copay or co-insurance payments received to the patient’s account.
• Balances the charges and fees incurred in the office and prepares the deposit daily.
• Schedules any follow-up appointments.
• Helps in answering the back line, screens calls, takes messages, and effectively shares information with patients, their families, and referring physician’s offices.
• Interacts with clinical staff in order to coordinate patient care and work flow of the clinic.
• Maintains work area and reception area in a neat and orderly manner at all times.
• Prints and distributes faxes and mail.
  

Requirements

• High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• 1-2 years of Medical Receptionist Experience.
• 1-2 years of experience with insurance verification.
