Job summary

Matrix Providers is hiring a Physical Therapist for a temporary backfill at Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. The role supports active duty and families with outpatient services and occasional inpatient coverage, 40 hours per week, with an August 2026 to January 2027 timeframe.

The candidate must hold a master’s degree or equivalent, CAPTE-approved education, eligible PT licensure, and BLS certification, with 12 months of PT experience in the past 15 months.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in physical therapy or Baccalaureate degree in physical therapy for graduates prior to January 1, 2002.
• Graduate from a college or university approved by CAPTE.
• Minimum of 12 months of PT experience in the past 15 months.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (AHA or Red Cross).
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted PT licensure.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive physical therapy services across Orthopedics, Primary Care, General Medicine, Surgery, and Rheumatology.
• Conduct patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Deliver therapeutic interventions including exercises, manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, and functional training.
• Administer modalities and equipment such as ultrasound, whirlpool, moist heat, etc.
• Assess patient progress, modify plans, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Educate patients and families on plans, home programs, mobility techniques, and device use.
• Evaluate and adapt prosthetic/orthotic devices to improve outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
• Provide guidance to PT assistants, technicians, aides, and students.
• Participate in rehab meetings, QA initiatives, peer reviews, wellness programs.

Matrix Providers is hiring a Physical Therapist - Temporary Backfill to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families at Naval Hospital, Jacksonville Florida.

• Employment Status: Temporary Full Time position.
  • Temporary Coverage needed for: August 10, 2026 to September 25, 2026 and October 15, 2026 to January 13, 2027.
• Schedule: Monday through Thursday 6:30 am to 5:00pm and Friday 6:30 am to 3:00 pm on Friday. Schedule to be determined by department based on patient care and can be discussed upon start. 40 hours per week.
  • Current schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Thursdays 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
• Compensation: $47.50-$50.00/hour paid bi-weekly

The Physical Therapist must have and meet the following:

• Degree: Master's degree in physical therapy or Baccalaureate degree in physical therapy for graduates prior to January 1, 2002.
• Education: Graduate from a college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
• Experience: Possess a minimum of 12 months of experience within the past 15 months as a Physical Therapist.
• Certification: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association, or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider Course.
• Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist.

Physical Therapist Core Job Duties:

• Provide comprehensive physical therapy services for patients across multiple specialties, including Orthopedics, Primary Care, General Medicine, Surgery, and Rheumatology.
• Conduct patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, referrals, and rehabilitation goals.
• Deliver therapeutic interventions including exercises, manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, traction, and functional training.
• Administer physical therapy modalities and equipment such as ultrasound, whirlpool, moist heat, and other therapeutic agents.
• Assess patient progress, modify treatment plans as needed, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, home exercise programs, mobility techniques, and assistive device use.
• Evaluate, fit, adjust, and recommend modifications for prosthetic and orthotic devices to improve patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and address treatment needs.
• Provide guidance and support to physical therapy assistants, technicians, aides, and students.
• Participate in rehabilitation meetings, quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, wellness programs, and professional development activities.

Facility and Patient Information:

• Outpatient clinic and may assist with inpatient once a week for a couple of hours.
• Patient age range: 18 to 65, consisting of active duty, dependents, and retirees.
• The clinic primarily treats patients for acute care rehabilitation needs, patients with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, and general deconditioning.
