General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to join our team at Therapy - Waugh Chapel. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professional competency as a general practitioner in physical therapy, utilizing various evaluation and treatment approaches, and possess strong customer service and communication skills for interacting with patients of diverse ages and backgrounds.

The Physical Therapist provides a range of services including screening, evaluation, treatment planning, implementation, re-assessment, discharge planning, and documentation across various settings. They participate in program planning and protocol development, helping the team meet established goals.

Primary Duties:

1. Provide evaluation services, review historical information, perform assessments, and document results. Explain findings and involve patients and families in goal setting.
2. Implement treatment protocols based on evaluation findings and patient presentation. Consult with healthcare professionals as needed. Recognize and document changes requiring care plan modifications.
3. Complete discharge planning and follow-up care. Document and charge for activities accurately, including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
4. Manage time effectively to meet productivity expectations. Maintain a flexible and empathetic approach to patient access to care.
5. Engage in continuing education for professional growth. Serve as a clinical instructor and assist with orientation and mentoring of staff, students, and volunteers.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
2. Licensure in Maryland, District of Columbia, and/or Virginia as required for the location.
3. American Heart Association BLS certification for Healthcare Providers and CPR certification.
