Job summary

MercyOne in Mason City, IA is seeking a part-time Physical Therapist for a day shift to evaluate and treat patients of all ages. You will develop individual treatment plans with family involvement and supervise support staff to meet goals.

Documentation and communication with a multi-disciplinary team are essential. The role requires Iowa licensure, BLS, and the ability to work effectively with diverse patients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Physical Therapy Program.
• Must possess/maintain license in the State of Iowa.
• Ability to communicate in English with patients and families.
• Provide proof of BLS prior to employment and maintain current status.
• Complete Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training as required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates plans and directs habilitative and rehabilitative programs for patients with physical limitations.
• Consults with patient, family, and multi-disciplinary team members.
• Records progress and data in medical records; instructs on exercises and activities of daily living.
• Delegates and supervises PT assistants and technicians to ensure efficient use of resources.
• Provides competent patient care across age groups by appropriate data interpretation and decision making.

Employment Type:Part timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:This position evaluates and treats patients of all ages. Develop treatment plans with involvement in family/support systems to meet the individual’s functional goals. Provides direct supervision of support personal as related to patient care.

What you will Do

• Evaluates plans, directs, supervises and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs for patients with physical limitations.
• Consults and communicates with patient, family, and other multi-disciplinary team members and service providers.
• Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart. Instructs patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living, safe body mechanics, home exercise programs, and return to work precautions.
• Delegates and supervises activities of physical therapy assistants and technicians, to assure efficient use of department resources.
• Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of Physical Therapy Program.
• Must possess/maintain license in the State of Iowa.
• Ability to have good relationships with people while dealing with a variety of physical disabilities. Must be able to read, write and/or speak English.
• Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
• Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines.
