Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Rehabilitation Physical Therapist to join our team in Missouri. Under Therapy Leadership, you will perform objective assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for adult and geriatric patients, while supervising rehab technicians and PT assistants as required by state practice acts.

Applicants should hold a PT degree (Bachelors, MS, or DPT) and an active PT license in the state of practice, with a current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Master of Science in Physical Therapy or Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
• Current/Temporary license of Physical Therapy in state of practice.
• BLS certification current before independent patient care.
• Preferred 6–12 months experience in Rehabilitation Physical Therapy; adult/geriatric care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform objective assessments and comprehensive individualized treatment programs for adults and geriatric patients.
• Provide direct supervision to patients and indirect supervision to rehabilitation technicians; supervise PT assistants per State Practice Acts.

Job description

Under the general supervision of Therapy Leadership and according to departmental policies and procedures regarding referral, standards of treatment, performs objective assessments, as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for adult and geriatric patients. Responsible for direct supervision to patients, indirect supervision of rehabilitation technicians. General supervision of PT assistants in accordance with State Practice Acts. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details

Education: Bachelor, Master of Science in Physical Therapy or Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Licensure: Current/Temporary license of Physical Therapy in state of practice. Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently. Preferred Experience: Six months to one year experience is preferred for Rehabilitation Physical Therapist. Prefer experience with care for adult and geriatric patients.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
