Physical Therapist - Full Time (Healthcare)

- Evaluate patients within twenty-four (24) hours, or 1 business day, of physician referral. If unable to complete evaluation in 24 hours, document the cause for delay clearly in the medical record.
- Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval from the referring physician.
- Treat patients according to the physician treatment plan.
- Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides.
- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants in patient care and related activities, following state practice act.
- Communicate with supervisors and health team members regarding patient progress, issues, and plans.
- Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
- Participate in in-service training programs for staff.
- Record evaluations, treatment notes, progress notes, and recertification documentation per PT Board State Practice Act and payer requirements.
- Record treatment changes according to policies and procedures.
- Instruct patients’ families and nursing staff in maintenance and caregiver training for discharge preparation.
- Participate in discharge planning.
- Recommend and facilitate ordering necessary durable medical equipment (e.g., braces, walkers, canes, grab bars) to promote patient independence.
- Report equipment issues to ensure department equipment remains in good condition.
- Maintain positive and effective relationships with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.
- Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing PT assistants, aides, and students.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy; Master's or Doctorate preferred.
- Proficient in computer skills (e.g., Casamba, Point Click Care).
- Ability to read technical procedures and manuals.
- Effective communication skills with managers, coworkers, and families.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions and percentages.
- Problem-solving and interpretative skills for practical situations.
- Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state; must meet continuing education requirements and maintain licensure.
Physical Demands
Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and manual handling of objects up to 100 pounds. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good visual acuity and focus adjustment are necessary.
Work Environment
