Job summary

Bath County Community Hospital in Virginia seeks a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide PT services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA helps patients regain function, mobility, and reduce pain, following treatment plans and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities include administering treatments, assisting with exercises, documenting care, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current license to practice as a PTA in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Current BLS certification required. May be obtained after hire.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to document in electronic medical records.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Administer physical therapy treatments as instructed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Assist patients in exercises and functional activities to improve strength, range of motion, and mobility.
• Monitor and report patient progress and responses to treatment to the Physical Therapist.
• Maintain appropriate and timely documentation of patient care, including daily notes and billing records.
• Educate patients and families on exercises, mobility techniques, and safe practices as directed.
• Foster a compassionate and respectful environment for patients and their families.
• Collaborate with Physical Therapists and other interdisciplinary team members to support overall patient care goals.
• Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
• Maintain clean and orderly treatment areas and equipment.
• Participate in department meetings, in-service training, and ongoing professional development.
• Support student instruction and orientation of new team members as assigned.
