Position: Physical Therapist Assistant - PRN/Resource

Primary Location: Inpatient - Main Hospital - Grand Rapids, MI

Employment Type: PRN/Resource

Weekend Frequency: Every Fourth weekend

Compensation: PRN Rate: $30

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Staff will provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.
• Each job responsibility aligns with Mary Free Bed Pillars of Excellence (Quality, Service, People, Growth, Financial).
• Assist the physical therapist in evaluation procedures and in treatment planning, using modalities, therapeutic exercise, assistive devices, and functional activities as directed.
• Provide verbal and/or written feedback to the physical therapist regarding observations or changes in the patient’s condition, reaction, and response to treatment.
• Assist in determining equipment and supply needs and participate in acquisition and inventory as needed.
• Contribute as the primary therapist in treatment following evaluation and under the direction of the physical therapist.
• Document patient status and progress according to internal/external standards and reimbursement guidelines.

Communication and Collaboration

• Communicate with the interdisciplinary team to integrate physical therapy treatment with all aspects of patient care.
• Participate in conferences and discussions, exchange written records as directed, and educate patients and families on physical therapy procedures and home programs.

Other Responsibilities

• Participate in meetings and in-services as designated.
• Follow hospital policies including patient confidentiality and infection control.
• Support program operations within Mary Free Bed system as requested.
• Act as a patient advocate and demonstrate competence in relevant software/hardware required for job responsibilities.

Essential Job Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
• Licensure with the State of Michigan.
• Possesses and maintains BLS certification to meet department/program protocol.
