Job summary

Mercy is seeking a qualified Physical Therapist Assistant to support the Physical Therapist in delivering quality patient care in a hospital setting. You will perform delegated procedures, document progress, and adapt treatments per the established plan while ensuring patient safety and dignity.

The incumbent will assist with patient assessments, care coordination, and supervising therapy aides, addressing age-specific needs and reporting safety issues as required.

Qualifications

• Licensed or permit in the state of practice, or holding a state-authorized temporary permit/license where applicable.
• Health Care Provider Basic Life Support Certification.
• Education: Associate's degree is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Physical Therapist in providing physical therapy.
• Perform physical therapy procedures delegated by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Modify treatment procedures within the established plan as patient status changes.
• Document patient progress notes.
• Ensure safety and effectively provide procedures as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Address age-specific needs for all patients.
• Treat patients and families with respect and dignity.
• Assess and address patient pain per pain management policy.
• Identify and report any patient safety issues.
• Provide technical assistance and direction to the Physical Therapy aide and coordinate workload.
