Job summary

St. Luke’s Hospital - The Woodlands is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to help patients rebuild and maintain their physical wellbeing. You will provide direct treatments within individualized care plans to improve function and quality of life.

You must demonstrate strong age-appropriate skills, excellent communication, and a collaborative, patient-centered approach. The role involves direct patient care and support across interdisciplinary teams in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or eligible for licensure in Physical Therapy.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 14 days of hire.
• TX license/eligibility required for Physical Therapy Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Administers therapeutic exercises and modalities according to the plan of care.
• Instructs and assists patients to learn functional activities such as ambulation and daily living tasks.
• Observes, assesses, and reports patient responses and progress to the PT or physicians.
• Fits and trains patients in use of orthotics/assistive devices (braces, crutches, walkers, etc.).
• May perform clerical duties as needed.
• Supports professional customer service and collaborates with the care team to meet patient needs.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Physical Therapist Assistant, you will help patients rebuild or maintain their physical wellbeing so they can function at their best level, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life.

Every day you will provide a variety of direct treatments within the individualized plans of care.

To be successful in this role, you must possess strong age-appropriate competency skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative, patient-centered approach to care.

• Administers therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the physical therapy plan of care


• Instructs, motivates and Assists patients to learn and improve functional activity, such as pre‑ambulation, transfer, ambulation and daily living activities


• Observes patients during treatments, Assesses, and compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress and reports verbally or in writing to the physical therapist; may communicate updates to physicians


• Fit patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs


• May perform clerical duties


• Promotes and Supports positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests and hospital personnel. Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner. Encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education

Pay Range

$27.43 - $40.80 /hour
