Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's St. Luke’s Health - The Woodlands Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to help patients rebuild or maintain their physical wellbeing, reduce pain, and improve quality of life.

You will provide direct treatments within individualized plans of care, engaging with patients to maximize functional outcomes. The role requires strong communication, age-appropriate competencies, and a collaborative, patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant required or eligible for licensure in TX.
• CPR/BLS certification required within 14 days of hire.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as Physical Therapist Assistant in TX.

Responsibilities

• Administers therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the plan of care.
• Instructs and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities (pre-ambulation, transfer, ambulation, ADLs).
• Observes patients, collects data on responses and progress; communicates updates to the PT or physicians.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Physical Therapist Assistant, you will help patients rebuild or maintain their physical wellbeing so they can function at their best level, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life.

Every day you will provide a variety of direct treatments within the individualized plans of care.

To be successful in this role, you must possess strong age-appropriate competency skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative, patient-centered approach to care.

• Administers therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the physical therapy plan of care

• Instructs, motivates and Assists patients to learn and improve functional activity, such as pre‑ambulation, transfer, ambulation and daily living activities

• Observes patients during treatments, Assesses, and compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress and reports verbally or in writing to the physical therapist; may communicate updates to physicians

• Fit patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs

• May perform clerical duties

• Promotes and Supports positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests and hospital personnel. Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner. Encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education

Pay Range

$27.43 - $40.80 /hour
