Job summary

WelbeHealth is looking for a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in San Jose, California. In this role, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team, providing restorative and rehabilitative services to elderly participants in both centers and homes.

About the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) Role

The PTA is an integral part of the IDT, collaborating with other members of the Rehabilitation team to implement care plans and provide direct care to participants. Under the direction of a Physical Therapist, the PTA provides restorative and rehabilitative physical therapy services to participants at the centre and in their homes to maximise independence, safety, and to develop or restore function.

• Have lower patient volumes – no more seeing 3‑4 patients an hour.
• Form long‑term relationships with participants rather than short‑term rehab stints.
• Collaborate with other therapists, providers, and disciplines.
• Work/life balance – no after‑hours documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer participant treatment programs as established by the Physical Therapist.
• Assist the Physical Therapist in obtaining vital signs, ranges of motion, and strength testing.
• Coordinate with other members of the Rehabilitation team to implement activities and programmes based on the participants’ individual treatment plans.
• Handle scheduling of participants’ treatments, clinical visits, and billing.
• Document physical therapy interventions in accordance with established care plans including, but not limited to, active and passive exercise, muscle re‑education, gait, functional training of ADLs, and treatments (e.g., massage, heat, sound, water, light, or electricity).

Job Requirements

• PTA associate’s degree from an accredited programme.
• Valid PTA licence, or proof of licence eligibility.
• Minimum of two (2) years of PTA experience in a clinical setting with a frail or elderly population.
• PTA knowledge necessary to treat frail, elderly participants with complex needs.

We are seeking PTAs that ideally have outpatient, acute, inpatient, or skilled nursing experience.

Compensation

Base salary plus bonus. Salary range: $38.74 – $51.14 USD per hour (actual compensation will be determined based on experience and relevant qualifications).
