Role Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) role is a full-time, on-site position based in Montoursville, PA. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to implement individual treatment plans, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques within scope, and functional training activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and organizing treatment areas, guiding patients through prescribed interventions, monitoring responses and progress, and accurately documenting care in the medical record. The PTA will assist with patient education on home exercise programs, safe movement strategies, and injury prevention, as well as communicate changes in patient status to the supervising therapist. Additional duties may involve supporting clinic operations, maintaining equipment, and contributing to a positive, professional, and welcoming environment for patients and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Formal training as a Physical Therapist Assistant, with graduation from an accredited PTA program and current or eligible PTA licensure in Pennsylvania.
• Strong clinical skills in therapeutic exercise, functional mobility training, and basic manual techniques appropriate to the PTA scope of practice.
• Solid knowledge of documentation standards, electronic health record usage, and adherence to evidence-based practice and safety protocols.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills for working with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team, including the ability to provide clear, compassionate education and instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritize caseload, follow treatment plans accurately, and collaborate closely with supervising Physical Therapists.
• Commitment to professional ethics, patient-centered care, ongoing learning, and maintaining a respectful, inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds.
• CPR/Basic Life Support certification and prior outpatient or orthopedic experience are preferred but not required.
