Job summary

OpenLight is seeking a highly skilled photonics test technician to work onsite in Goleta, CA. You will join the test engineering team to operate automated test stations and validate silicon photonics devices and PICs at multiple levels.

The role emphasizes wafer prober operation, hands-on lab experience, and strong attention to detail, with a hybrid approach to work in a growing AI and cloud infra context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering.
• Associate degree with industry experience.
• Experience operating automated wafer probers.
• Hands-on physics or EE lab/industry experience.
• Manual dexterity for sub‑micron mechanical alignment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex docs.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Program wafer maps on commercial wafer probers.
• Operate and support wafer-level test stations for silicon photonic devices.
• Load wafers, run test sequences, and ensure high-quality test execution.
• Perform optical and electronic probe alignment.
• Monitor test outputs and identify anomalies, drift, or unexpected behavior in data.
• Flag irregularities to engineers with clear observations and context.
• Contribute to improving lab workflows, test processes, and data quality.
