Job summary

OpenLight Photonics Inc. in Goleta, CA is seeking a highly skilled photonics test technician to join the test engineering team onsite.

You will operate automated test stations to validate Silicon Photonics devices and PICs at wafer, die, and package levels, with emphasis on wafer prober operation. The role includes wafer map programming, station operation, probe alignment, data quality checks, and collaboration with engineers to improve workflows.

Qualifications

• Degree in physics or electrical engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience operating automated wafer probers and lab equipment.
• Strong manual dexterity for sub-micron alignment.
• Ability to read and follow technical documentation with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Program wafer maps on commercial wafer probers.
• Operate wafer-level test stations for silicon photonic devices.
• Load wafers, run test sequences, ensure high-quality data.
• Perform optical and electronic probe alignment.
• Monitor outputs, identify anomalies and drift.
• Flag irregularities with clear context to engineers.
• Improve lab workflows and data quality.
