Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Clinical Support Tech - Satellite to support phlebotomy and specimen processing across satellite locations in Illinois. The role involves handling waived and moderate complexity testing, EKGs, and timely communication of results to providers.

The candidate will work with main lab staff and other departments to ensure high-quality patient care, with rotating shifts including holidays and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience or graduate from an approved phlebotomy program.
• Hard copy of high school diploma or equivalency with transcripts as required by CLIA.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived and moderate complexity testing under supervision and follows lab procedures.
• Performs diagnostic testing, interprets results and reports to provider.
• Performs quality control and troubleshoots instruments.
• Performs EKG procedures for outpatient and inpatients.
• Collaborates with main lab staff, nurses and providers to ensure patient care.
• May work at multiple Satellite locations with weekend/holiday rotation and on-call duties.
• Works with lab personnel to prioritize tests and complete all work.
• Identifies and solves problems with supervisor or pathologist as needed.
• Follows patient safety goals including two identifiers and handwashing.
• Performs post-phlebotomy patient care and reports results by phone.
• Understands system QA/QA procedures and uses reagents cost-effectively.
• Responds to customer calls professionally and communicates results accurately.
