Job summary

Torrance Memorial Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to support the Pre-Analytic Services team. You will identify, collect and label blood specimens, ensuring proper patient identification and adherence to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include performing up to 6 venipunctures per hour, maintaining accurate clerical documentation, and coordinating with the Clinical Laboratory, patients, and MD offices.

Qualifications

• Identifies, collects and labels blood specimens according to procedures.
• Adheres to infection control guidelines and safety procedures.
• Performs clerical/documentation tasks accurately and promptly.
• Performs up to 6 venipunctures per hour.
• Reviews physician orders for completeness during intake and documents data.

Responsibilities

• Performs functions in LIS: enters test requests, provides results, processes specimens.
• Answers calls, takes verbal orders, communicates results to appropriate parties.
• Maintains lobby area, printer/copier/fax equipment and inventory in Front Office.
• Participates in hospital performance improvement activities when appropriate.
