Job summary

NALHE is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform venipuncture, skin puncture, and initial steps of laboratory testing. You will prepare samples for diagnostic testing, label specimens, and ensure proper handling according to instructions.

You will support the Laboratory Technologist with routine tests, assist nurses, manage specimen courier pickups, and maintain courteous relations with patients and staff while upholding quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Performs venipuncture and skin puncture as part of patient sample collection.
• Labels specimens with patient information and test details.
• Supports routine laboratory testing and sample processing under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Sorts laboratory slips to determine order of blood draws.
• Performs venipuncture and skin puncture to obtain blood samples.
• Labels samples and transmits to Laboratory per instructions, including refrigeration or centrifuging when required.
• Assists Laboratory Technologist with routine tests and sample preparation.
• Fills courier baskets with laboratory samples and processes specimens for pickup by couriers.
• Maintains professional, courteous relations with patients and staff.
