Qualifications

  • Previous phlebotomy experience in healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
  • Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and skin punctures on inpatients and outpatients.
  • Performs various screening tests and record keeping associated with phlebotomy and reports results.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures and follows hospital safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Performs clerical functions associated with the testing area.
  • Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Acquires electrocardiograms.
  • Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
  • Preserves and protects patient rights to confidentiality at all times.
