Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge and experience in phlebotomy or related laboratory function.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.

• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated customer service skills to interface effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, and other healthcare employees.

Responsibilities

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety.
• Performs Venipuncture and collects other specimens from patients according to protocol.
• Obtains specimens according to priority and scheduled draw times; labels and documents properly.
• Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines per policies.
• Answers and screens calls; assists with inventory and billing support.
• Receives, sorts, and packages specimens for transport; responds to requests.
• Orders and verifies test requests; conducts quality control and notifies providers of results.
• Performs laboratory result entry in the computer system.
• Participates in proficiency testing and generates reports.
• Instructs employees and students in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
• Provides age-appropriate care knowledge and adheres to department standards.
