Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician I for Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, TX. This per-diem (PRN) role involves drawing blood, labeling specimens, and transporting them to the lab while ensuring patient safety and accurate records.

You will work 8-hour morning shifts (4am–12:30pm) and support other departments as needed to ensure timely patient care. Prior phlebotomy experience and CPT I certification are preferred, with mandatory BLS within 45 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPT I certification required.
• BLS certification within 45 days of hire required.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for blood draws and explain procedures to ensure comfort and safety.
• Perform venipuncture and other collection techniques with correct identification and labeling of specimens.
• Organize, transport and store specimens to the lab for testing, ensuring proper processing.
• Adhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain specimen integrity and accurate results.
• Maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies; keep areas sanitized.
• Perform more complex phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision.
