Job summary

Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas, is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician I to perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages and to support the clinical laboratory operations under supervision.

Responsibilities include data entry, specimen processing, stock maintenance, and assisting in loading automated instruments. Required: High School Diploma, BLS within 45 days, and at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience preferred. Position: Per Diem, shift: Variable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained current required.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages for blood specimens.
• Enter data into computer systems and perform clerical duties.
• Demonstrate proper phlebotomy technique and maintain equipment and supplies.
• Process and prepare specimens for analysis and assist in loading automated laboratory instruments.
