Job summary

Prime Healthcare in Blue Springs, MO is seeking a detail-oriented Phlebotomy Technician for per diem shifts at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen labeling and transport, and maintaining quality controls. Requires high school diploma and BLS within 45 days; 2+ years lab experience preferred.

Shifts are 8 hours (5:00 am–1:30 pm or 1:00 pm–5:30 pm); per diem employment status. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained current, required.
Minimum of two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the process.
Draw blood from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other techniques; ensure proper identification and labeling of specimens.
Organize, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing, and ensure all specimens are properly processed and stored.
Adhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens and ensure accurate test results.
Maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensure everything is in working order and properly sanitized.
Perform more complex or specialized phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision.
