Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring seeks a Phlebotomy Technician on a full-time day shift, with every other weekend and rotating major holidays. You will perform phlebotomy specimen collection, verify patient identity, label specimens accurately, and coordinate with physicians, nursing units and lab staff.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least six months hospital phlebotomy experience (one year preferred), and strong interpersonal and computer literacy skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Six months hospital phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Ability to perform venipuncture without assistance.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Basic computer literacy and data entry ability.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy specimen collection per SOP.
• Identify patients and label specimens accurately.
• Process, accession and distribute specimens to the lab.
• Communicate test status and physician orders clearly.
• Support charts and reports to patient care units.
• Act as receptionist to incoming lab services customers.
