Job summary

The American Red Cross in Des Moines, IA seeks individuals to support blood collection operations. No prior medical experience required as paid phlebotomy training is provided. You will help create a welcoming environment for donors and ensure safe, compliant collection processes.

This role emphasizes customer service, healthcare skills development, and teamwork within the nation’s leading humanitarian organization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include lifting, pushing or pulling heavy weights, long hours and irregular schedule. Minimum height of 60 inches may apply for vehicle operation.
• Basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Take time to personally connect with donors and explain the impact of donations.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment for donors.
• Be detail oriented to meet goals, regulatory requirements and safe transfusion of blood.
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setup/teardown at donation sites.
