Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Arnold, MO seeks a full-time phlebotomist to perform blood collection and handling at a client site. This role is 37 hours per week with a Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 8am-3pm schedule.

You will adhere to safety standards, document results, and coordinate with the lab and client staff. Requires high school diploma; phlebotomy certification or relevant experience is preferred; willingness to travel to additional sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy Certification through a nationally recognized organization or training, or one or more years of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.
• Preferred: experience with processing lab specimens, transferring specimens, and handling a centrifuge.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards.
• Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Identifies need for patient medical assistance and call code as appropriate.
• Reviews/Records refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records.
• Label and process specimens according to established protocols and policies.
• Must procure blood specimens from infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair bound patients.
• Communicates results to client office staff and performs other duties as assigned.
• Travels to additional sites when needed.
