Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join the Arnold, MO team. This full-time role has a 37-hour weekly schedule, with shift times Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 8am-3pm.

You will collect blood samples, ensure proper labeling and processing, and support patient care within our laboratory services. Responsibilities include maintaining phlebotomy standards, communicating results to clinicians, and adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution or one or more years of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.
• Bilingual skills preferred in the job listing.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards.
• Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Identifies need for patient medical assistance and calls code as appropriate.
• Reviews/Records refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records; reports findings to supervisor or manager.
• Label and process specimens according to established protocols and policies.
• Procure blood specimens from infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair-bound patients.
• Maintain competency for age-related responsibilities and safety practices.
• Communicate test orders and results to client office staff and follow up as needed.
• Follow patient safety goals and two patient identifiers in everyday practice.
• Demonstrate teamwork and professional demeanor with patients and coworkers.
