Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC is seeking a phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy procedures and point-of-care testing to support clinical activities in the healthcare system.

This full-time role offers a 40-hour workweek (Mon-Fri, 8AM-5PM) with duties including consultation with providers and patients, ensuring quality, equipment maintenance, and potential teaching of new staff. No licensure required; 1 year of experience or phlebotomy program completion preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of phlebotomy experience required, or graduation from a phlebotomy program.
• No licensure or certification required.

Responsibilities

• Consults/confers with healthcare providers/patients regarding patient care as it relates to phlebotomy service issues.
• Ensures quality and accuracy of work.
• Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens and/or workflow.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
• May perform teaching and training of new employees, phlebotomy students and/or other healthcare providers.
• May review test results to ensure accuracy of reporting and timely correction of errors or report results to healthcare providers.
• Performs phlebotomy procedures, quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
• Responsible for and/or ensures completion of daily work and assigned tasks. Monitors daily operation of laboratory work area.
