Responsibilities

• The Phlebotomy Support Technician is responsible for the collection and processing of blood and other specimens as directed.
• Performs proper specimen collection by confirming patient ID, collecting specimens in proper tubes, utilizing venipuncture/capillary techniques, and accurately labeling the specimens to ensure accurate patient results.
• Processes specimens appropriately for subsequent testing. Accessions, updates information and makes corrections to orders as needed.
