Job summary

Trinity Health is seeking an experienced phlebotomy supervisor to coordinate staffing for Specimen Control across inpatient, outpatient, and outreach sites. You will lead and triage phlebotomy services, troubleshoot lab needs, and ensure specimens are processed accurately according to quality standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, phlebotomy training, ASCP certification within 3 months of hire, and at least six months of phlebotomy experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma, or equivalent.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy Training or Phlebotomy Technical School.
• Minimum: ASCP certification for Phlebotomy (or other accrediting agency) within 3 months of hire.
• Minimum: Six months of phlebotomy experience.
• Preferred: Previous leadership experience.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and clerical skills; strong customer service and critical thinking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Triage inpatient phlebotomy patients to ensure timely Routine, Timed, Stat and ASAP draws.
• Assigns lab staff roles and troubleshoots atypical situations to maintain workflow.
• Acts as a resource for testing questions and lab concerns.
• Responds to inquiries related to lab services.
• Prepares and routes specimens for testing while observing biohazard regulations.
• Monitors test result turnaround times and communicates outcomes to physicians.
• Manages non-automated billing for applicable tests.
• Runs daily reports to track specimens and performance metrics.
