Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Phlebotomy certificate from an accredited program with internship (100 successful venipunctures) is required or 6 months phlebotomy experience in lieu of internship.
• In lieu of phlebotomy certification, 5+ years direct phlebotomy experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture on adults, children and infants.
• Register patients and order tests, verify patient identity and demographics.
• Collect, transport and document specimens according to procedures.
• Maintain records and ensure proper labeling, handling and delivery of specimens.
• Follow universal precautions and hospital policies during specimen collection.
