Job summary

Brown University Health in Dartmouth, MA seeks a Phlebotomist to collect blood samples from pediatric and adult patients on outpatient units and inpatient areas. You will register patients, verify identities, collect specimens, and ensure proper labeling and documentation.

Under supervision, you will follow hospital procedures, practice universal precautions, and coordinate with nursing staff to support timely test processing and quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certificate program with internship or cert.
• In lieu of internship, 6 months phlebotomy experience may be considered.
• In lieu of certification, 5+ years direct phlebotomy experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and collects specimens according to procedures.
• Registers patients, verifies identity, and enters demographics and orders.
• Maintains documentation, specimen tracking and timely report delivery.
• Adheres to universal precautions and infection control policies.
• Communicates with nursing staff to handle deviations and patient conditions.
• Performs related clerical and data-entry tasks as needed.
