Job summary

The Wright Center in Naperville is seeking a Phlebotomy Lead to oversee all blood-draw operations and related laboratory workflows. You will lead a team, ensure safety, accuracy, and compassionate guest care during procedures.

This role coordinates with our contracted laboratory service provider, maintains documentation, and drives process improvements to deliver reliable, high-quality diagnostics for patients and guests.

Qualifications

• Certified phlebotomist with extensive phlebotomy experience.
• Strong knowledge of lab processes, specimen handling, and safety protocols.
• Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, guest-centered approach.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality blood draws with precision, gentleness, and compassion.
• Provide concierge-level care by preparing guests, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort throughout the experience.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety standards, infection control, and proper specimen handling protocols.
• Oversee all processes related to specimen collection, labeling, processing, packaging, and timely transfer to laboratory service provider.
• Troubleshoot issues related to lab orders, specimen rejection, missing information, or laboratory service provider interface challenges.
• Maintain lab equipment, supply inventory, and ensure readiness at all times.
• Uphold precise chain-of-custody policies to protect sample integrity and guest safety.
• Serve as the primary liaison with laboratory service provider for courier schedules, supply ordering, unresolved specimen questions, and workflow optimization.
• Train and support team members performing phlebotomy or lab-related tasks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and streamline lab workflows.
