Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Newton-Wellesley Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist Lead to provide daily support to a subsection of the phlebotomy team, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to practice standards. You will supervise staff, coordinate specimen collection, and serve as a technical expert for collection procedures.

The role is onsite with hours 11:30am–8:00pm and rotating weekends/holidays; leadership, problem solving, and excellent patient service are essential to maintain safety,

Qualifications

• Education requirements as stated: HS diploma or equivalent; phlebotomy certification preferred.
• 3–5 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Licenses and credentials include a National Phlebotomy Certification.

Responsibilities

• Works autonomously within established procedures and practices.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Oversees daily activities of phlebotomists and students, with a focus on safe patient care and satisfaction.
• Coordinates workflow to ensure timely collection of specimens and staff deployment or coverage.
• Serves as a technical expert for all collection procedures and assists with difficult draws, research kits, and special procedures.
• Signs off on technical training of new staff and annual competency documentation.
• Assists the manager or supervisor in implementing schedule changes, may monitor staff absences, and provides input on improvements or proposed policy changes.
