Job summary

The University of Southern California seeks a Phlebotomy Technician to perform venipuncture and collect specimens for laboratory testing in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will label specimens in the patient room, prepare paperwork for testing, and process samples according to established procedures while upholding asepsis and patient safety.

California CPTI/CPTII phlebotomy certification and BLS are required; experience in a clinical laboratory and pediatric collections is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; two years of college preferred.
• California Phlebotomy Certification (CPTI or CPTII) required with BLS certification.
• Prefer experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture using standardized techniques and collect specimens accurately.
• Label specimens in the patient room and submit paperwork for testing.
• Process and prepare specimens according to laboratory procedures.
• Maintain a safe, organized workspace and uphold asepsis principles.
• Communicate results and discrepancies to appropriate staff.
