Job summary

University of Florida Health invites applications for a Lab PAA/Phlebotomist. This role performs venipuncture and specimen collection, prepares samples for analysis, and supports microbiology, hematology, and chemistry testing.

You will use hospital information systems, release orders, and manage specimen transport, while adhering to safety protocols. Qualifications include a high school diploma and phlebotomy training or comparable experience, with strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent required.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program or 6 months phlebotomy experience (clinical or hospital based preferred).
• Preferred: graduation from a health-related program or science coursework at high school or college level.
• Must have computer skills and be able to operate hospital information systems.
• Demonstrated initiative, ability to multitask, and strong teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Collect, prepare, process, and store specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Perform laboratory procedures related to microbiology, hematology, immunohematology, and chemistry testing.
• Release and place orders using hospital and laboratory computer systems.
• Receive, process, and distribute patient specimens and blood products.
• Follow established laboratory procedures and safety protocols for specimen handling.
