Job summary

Florida Department of Health in Pinellas is seeking an OPS Health Support Technician to perform laboratory testing, venipuncture and patient intake across all five health department clinics. You will assist providers, maintain a clean lab environment and ensure accurate EMR documentation.

The role requires phlebotomy experience, customer service skills and the ability to travel between sites. A valid driver’s license is needed; a phlebotomy certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience doing phlebotomy.
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel to all 5 health department clinic sites to cover.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs Laboratory testing and patient servicing in a Health Department laboratory.
• Performs daily maintenance of equipment.
• Maintains a clean and disinfected environment in lab at all times.
• Prepares specimens for transport to outside labs.
• Records and maintains records and results in EMR.
• Orders lab supplies as needed.
• Venipunctures, urine collection and finger sticks for all clinics.
• Quality control of lab testing and equipment.
• Coordinate laboratory flow with clinic nursing supervisor and/or Center Manager.
