Job summary

Florida Department of Health in Hernando County seeks an OPS Health Support Technician to assist in the lab and clinical areas, greet and escort clients, schedule appointments and collect essential information for medical records.

You will provide phlebotomy services, run routine tests, assist providers during exams, maintain exam rooms and supply inventory, and document results in the electronic health record, upholding confidentiality and agency values.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic computer software.
• Knowledge of basic phlebotomy practices.
• Skill in using medical instruments or testing equipment.
• Skill in taking blood pressure readings.
• Ability to interview patients and obtain a complete medical history.
• Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts clients, works in the lab and clinic area.
• Screens and schedules client appointments for medical health clinics.
• Assists in preparing client medical records for visits and documents data.
• Provides laboratory services including venipuncture and tests.
• Assists providers with exams and case management.
• Maintains exam rooms, stocks supplies, and handles referrals.
• Documents all results in the electronic health record.
