Job summary

AHMC HealthCare is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Monterey Park, CA to support chemical, hematology and microbiology areas. The role requires strong LIS skills, phlebotomy experience, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, accurate labeling, and interfacing with nursing and laboratory staff to ensure timely processing. A four-year clinical lab background and English proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent experience; AA or Bachelor's preferred.
• Two years of experience as a phlebotomist.
• Certified for venipuncture and skin puncture.
• Must communicate well in English both in writing and verbally.
• Minimum of four years of experience in a clinical laboratory with at least two years as Laboratory Technician or related role.
• LIS experience and computer knowledge required; ability to troubleshoot in processing area.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient ID and collect specimens per policy.
• Perform phlebotomy and prepare/send out tests.
• Label tubes accurately and document results in LIS.
• Maintain sanitary work area and proper sharps disposal.
• Coordinate with departments to ensure timely test processing.
• Respond to STAT requests and adapt to schedule changes.
