Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is hiring a Lab Support Tech I to greet patients, perform phlebotomy, and support specimen collection and processing across multiple locations.

You will operate hospital information systems, handle specimen registration, and coordinate with departments to ensure timely test results. Strong emphasis on accuracy, patient care, and adherence to safety protocols is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Phlebotomy training preferred.
• ASCP certification or eligibility preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood samples using venipuncture techniques across all age groups.
• Labels and prioritizes specimens accurately and communicates issues to supervisors.
• Transports specimens promptly and redistributes them per protocol.
• Registers courier-delivered specimens efficiently and resolves printer issues.
• Orders tests accurately using hospital information systems and test dictionaries.
• Answers and transfers calls courteously, ensuring coverage at all times.
• Maintains a clean, stocked, and organized drawing station.
