Job summary

Norman Regional is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join a fast-paced, team-oriented laboratory. The role includes performing venipuncture, processing specimens, and ensuring safety and accuracy across testing workflows.

Qualifications include high school education, knowledge of medical terminology, and phlebotomy experience or related clinical rotations. BLS certification is required and rotation to support reference labs is possible.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood or blood processing, or current MLT student in clinical rotations, or one or more college level courses in a biological science

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures for blood tests and knows all safety requirements.
• Receives and distributes specimens in the laboratory.
• Processes specimens for testing, storage and send out to reference laboratories.
• Demonstrates knowledge of specimen requirements and limitation of testing procedures.
• Performs waived testing as required.
• Demonstrates knowledge about the functionality of the Lab’s automation line.
• Acts as a resource for laboratory information.
• Timeliness of specimen collections and contamination.
