Job summary

Hillsboro Medical Center, Hillsboro, OR, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support pre-analytic and post-analytic processes. The role includes phlebotomy, specimen receipt, test ordering and charting under direct supervision.

You will work with physicians and nursing staff, ensure proper patient identification and labeling, and help with clerical tasks and data entry while maintaining PHI privacy and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Phlebotomy and specimen handling experience preferred.
• Attention to accuracy, PHI privacy and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy collections from inpatients and outpatients with proper ID and labeling.
• Receives, processes and distributes specimens to testing locations promptly.
• Registers patients, orders tests and transcribes results in the system under supervision.
• Maintains clean work areas and assists with supply ordering and restocking.
• Communicates with physicians and nursing staff to ensure correct orders and specimen procurement.
• Distributes completed reports and handles abnormal result notifications per policy.
• Supports patient care across age groups and assists with clerical tasks as needed.
