Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking an entry-level Hospital - Clinical Lab Assistant to support phlebotomy, specimen processing, and waived testing at the Medical Arts & Research Center.

Under supervision, you will learn LIS entry, prepare specimens, and assist lab staff while maintaining safety and accuracy. This on-site role offers Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and opportunities to float to different locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a certified phlebotomy program preferred.
• Familiarity with phlebotomy techniques and specimen handling is expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens.
• Receive and accession specimens into the LIS.
• Prepare and aliquot specimens for laboratory testing according to protocols.
• Monitor inventory of lab supplies and restock as needed.
• Answer inquiries and provide information on specimen collection and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with quality control and safety standards.
