Job summary

Fairview Health Services seeks a Float Laboratory Care Technician for M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville and Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. This part-time, benefit-eligible role runs 64 hours per 2 weeks (0.8 FTE), with eight 8-hour shifts starting early or mid-day, and occasional weekends.

The position involves phlebotomy, specimen processing, LIS/HIS data entry, and patient communication. Training and safety adherence are emphasized across sites.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program or enrollment in a related program.
• Phlebotomy experience and successful customer service in diverse settings.
• Ability to work under stress and exercise independent judgment.
• Competence in collecting blood samples with dexterity and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Follows guidelines to obtain biological specimens and perform procedures.
• Collects specimens with proper technique per SOP and performs phlebotomy.
• May perform EKGs and train others in phlebotomy skills.
• Maintains quality control, monitors inventory, and handles data entry in LIS/HIS.
• Ensures specimens are properly identified and routed for testing.
• Promotes safety and infection control while supporting patient care.
