Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Towson, MD is seeking a Phlebotomy Lab Assistant to collect, accession and process specimens, and provide accurate lab information to customers. The role includes donor room duties, EKGs, and strict adherence to patient identification protocols.

The ideal candidate has 6 months of phlebotomy and accessioning experience, strong medical terminology knowledge, and excellent communication skills. Onsite work with comprehensive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of phlebotomy experience and 6 months laboratory accessioning experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and phlebotomy techniques.

Responsibilities

• Extracts blood from patients and performs phlebotomy procedures following aseptic technique.
• Document all phlebotomy rounds and outpatient callbacks to physician offices.
• Enter accurate patient demographics and lab orders in the system and verify specimens.
• Prepare and process specimens, label, measure, aliquot, centrifuge, and distribute.
• Perform quality EKGs and complete required demographic information.
• Register autologous and therapeutic donors, ensure donor room QC daily.
