Job summary

Cal Poly Pomona's Student Health Services seeks a Phlebotomy/Clinical Lab Assistant on a 10/12 schedule. The role includes phlebotomy, specimen collection, waived testing, and patient care, under supervision of CLS I/II. Workweek Monday–Friday 8 am–5 pm at Pomona campus.

You will label specimens, process and transport, document results, and help maintain safety and compliance, including HIPAA and CLIA requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with six to twelve months of related healthcare experience.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician I as defined by the California Department of Health Services.
• Six to twelve months of related experience in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of CLIA-waived testing procedures, lab safety, and quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and patient care under CLS supervision.
• Greet patients, verify identity, and prepare for specimen collection.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture according to procedures.
• Label specimens accurately and ensure proper transport and documentation.
• Maintain specimen integrity and report concerns to clinical staff.
