Job summary

The University of Southern California’s Pasadena Clinical Lab is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support blood collection and specimen processing in a fast-paced environment. This full-time, union position offers day shifts and on-site work in Pasadena, CA.

Responsibilities include venipuncture or capillary sampling, handling specimens, communicating with patients and staff, delivering specimens and blood products, and assisting with clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate from an accredited Phlebotomy Program.
• Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
• Strong organization and time-management skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood sample specimens by venipuncture or capillary methods.
• Receive and screen specimens for acceptability.
• Deliver blood products to Surgery and specimens to the appropriate lab sections.
• Process, distribute, or package specimens.
• Handle inquiries about lab results and specimen status.
• Communicate professionally with patients and staff.
• Participate in Quality Improvement activities and other duties as assigned.
