Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• ASPT certification or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience in phlebotomy and specimen handling is expected.

Responsibilities

• Follows safety and department protocols when handling blood or body fluids.
• Performs venipunctures, finger sticks, and pediatric heel sticks.
• Collects and labels specimens with correct patient identification.
• Documents collection information in the electronic record.
• Responds to codes per hospital protocol (Code Blue, STEMI, etc.).
• Processes specimens for testing and send-outs to referral labs.
• Assists in microbiology culture setup and plating.
• Performs EKG testing and lead placement.
• Maintains a clean, stocked work station and responds to inquiries.
