Job summary

Stanford Health Care - Tri-Valley is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture, specimen processing and clerical duties within the laboratory. The role requires accurate data entry, proper specimen labeling, and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include handling specimens for send-outs, assisting in microbiology culture setup and EKG testing, and participating in weekend rotations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of ASPT program or 100 hours on‑the‑job training within SHC - Valley Care.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) is required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification is required.
• Strong organizational, communication and clerical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to obtain specimens.
• Facilitate and document the flow of patient specimens in and out of the laboratory.
• Enter specimen collection information and test data into the computer.
• Label, identify, and transport specimens to designated areas.
• Process specimens for send outs to referral laboratories and other facilities; assist in microbiology culture setup and EKG testing.
• Respond to codes and follow hospital safety protocols.
