• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in phlebotomy.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.
• Keyboarding and typing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good listening skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated customer service skills to interface effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, and other healthcare employees.

Responsabilidades

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety.
• Performs Venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol.
• Obtains specimens according to priority and scheduled draw times; ensures proper labeling and suitability for testing.
• Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines according to policies and procedures.
• Answers and screens telephone calls; assists with inventory and supports Billing and other functions.
• Receives, sorts, packages and tracks specimens for transport; processes specimens for testing and pre-analytical steps.
• Orders and verifies test requests; documents information for quality assurance; runs QC checks.
• Performs laboratory result entry in the computer system.
• Performs proficiency testing and generates reports.
• Instructs employees and students in phlebotomy, data entry and specimen processing functions.
• Provides age-appropriate care and considers age-specific needs as described in department standards.
